On April 12, 2017, at about 11:25 a.m., Officers of the Clovis Police Department responded to the 300 block of Thornton Street in response to a call of shots fired. The reporting caller told Clovis Police Department Dispatch they heard what sounded like one gun shot. Officers arrived in the area but didn’t locate any victims or overt damage.
At about 11:51 a.m., Officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to Plains Regional Medical Center for an injured subject. On arrival, Officers made contact with a 20 year old male subject who had received a gunshot wound to his right thigh. A Detective of the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Unit was dispatched to the hospital to continue the investigation. The Detective contacted the wounded subject who would not answer any questions posed by the Detective.
Officers and Investigators cleared from the hospital and conducted a canvas of the area surrounding the original shots fired call. No information was developed as a result of the canvas.
The 20 year old male was subsequently transported to a Lubbock, Texas hospital for follow on care.
