Agg. Battery – 3100 blk Gidding – 06/22/2017

On Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at approximately 7:57 p.m., officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the 3100 block of Gidding Street for a possible motor vehicle crash. The caller relayed to Dispatch that there was a male who was bleeding in the front yard of a house and there were other males trying to fight.
On arrival, Officers noted a person later identified as Paul Apodaca Sr. (42 years old) lying on the ground, bleeding from his head. Another male, later identified as Paul Apodaca Sr.’s child, a 16 year old juvenile, was seen limping around the area, appearing to have an injured right leg. The 16 year old juvenile was arguing on scene with another person identified as Isaac Sena (20 years of age). Sena and the 16 year old juvenile were separated by arriving Officers.
Clovis Fire Department ambulance transported Apodaca Sr., the 16 year old juvenile, and Sena to Plains Regional Medical Center.
The Clovis Police Department Crash Team was activated to conduct the crime scene investigation because of the involvement of a vehicle. Detectives of the Special Operations Unit were dispatched to investigate the incident.
Officers contacted a witness who relayed they had seen a silver in color Nissan Altima, occupied by three subjects (Paul Apodaca Sr., a 16 year old juvenile, and a 14 year old juvenile) and a silver in color Ford Fusion occupied by one subject (Isaac Sena) stop at a parking lot near Llano Estacado and Wallace Streets. The occupants of the Nissan exited their car and began battering the occupant of the Ford Fusion. The witness said that he honked his car horn and watched the as the occupants of the Nissan returned to their car and drove off. Isaac Sena got back into his vehicle, the Ford, and followed the Nissan to a residence in the 3100 block of Gidding Street. The witness reportedly followed the two vehicles to the 3100 block of Gidding Street where he said he could see two people, Paul Apodaca Jr. and the 16 year old juvenile, underneath the Ford Fusion, Isaac Sena’s vehicle.
Paul Apodaca Sr. was subsequently transported to a Lubbock, Texas area hospital because of the extent of his injuries, and is listed in critical condition. The 16 year old juvenile and Isaac Sena were treated at Plains Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
The Clovis Police Department Special Operations Unit is investigating this incident. Updates will be forwarded when they become available.
