Mobile Active Shooter – 701 N. Main – 08/28/2017

On Monday, August 28th, 2017, at about 4:13 p.m., Officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to 701 North Main Street, The Clovis Carver Public Library, for a mobile active shooter. On arrival, Officers contacted the suspected shooter who immediately surrendered. There have been fatalities at this incident and multiple injuries. The scene has been secured and the investigation into the incident is at its infancy.

The Major Crimes Unit, consisting of the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, The Curry County Sheriff’s Office, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office, the Clovis Police Department, and the Portales Police Department, was activated to investigate this incident. Area law enforcement agencies including the New Mexico State Police, Eastern New Mexico University Police, the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are assisting.
