In July 2009, Officer Joshua Parkin was promoted to the position of Community Relations Officer. The position was created in order to provide an avenue for community involvement with the Clovis Police Department. New programs such as the Shop with a Cop program have been implemented and the Clovis Police Department has been able to raise more than $10,000 each of the last two years and take more than 100 children shopping.
We are always trying to get the community involved with the Police Department and explain the best ways to provide information so that officers can be more proactive with problems that arise in the community. The continuation of the Neighbourhood watch programs, Citizens Police Academy and Code Blue are the best examples of this.
The Clovis Police Department is active with several different agencies including the United Way, Curry County Wellness Council, Junctions and the list continues to grow.
