Incident Type: Robbery At Allsup’s Convenience Store Parking Lot At Grand and Prince Streets In Clovis Friday Morning – Witnesses Give Chase and Apprehend Suspect  

A local woman was robbed of a money bag containing an undisclosed amount of money at a Clovis Allsup’s Convenience Store located at Grand and Prince Street today on Friday, June 18, 2010 at approximately 10:00 am when a suspect described as a black male was standing by an ice machine in front of the store and asked the female victim for a cigarette as she was walking up to the store and when she said she did not have one, the suspect punched the victim in the face and took a money bag that the female was holding. The robbery suspect then turned and ran to the south and fled on foot from the parking lot area of the store. The woman yelled for help and a group of male witnesses came to her aid and chased the suspect in a vehicle and were able to apprehend the suspect after a short vehicle and foot chase that ended in the area of 4th and Oak Streets. Clovis Police arrived on-scene within a few minutes of the 911 call and took custody of the suspect from the male witnesses that had apprehended the man. All of the stolen money was recovered and returned to the owner.        

The female victim was not harmed severely and was able to give a statement and cooperate with police at the scene. None of the male witnesses that captured the robbery suspect were harmed in the incident. 

The suspect was arrested for Robbery and other felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incident based upon the victim and witnesses statements. The robbery suspect is identified as 24 year old Clovis resident Rondy Q. McDonald. McDonald was transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on the Robbery charges.
